Radiographic Testing whether it be X-Ray or Radiography is one of the oldest methods used in industry today.
Based on the principles of X-Rays or Gamma Rays having the ability to penetrate and pass through materials such as steel and even concrete. It is used to inspect for volumetric flaws and discontinuities deep within the part under test.
Typical flaws and discontinuities detected include;
- Porosity, cracks, voids, inclusions in castings
- Porosity, cracks, lack of fusion and lack of penetration in welds
- Fatigue and stress cracking on in-service components such as aircraft structures
